Purpose
Discrimination is defined as different treatment that makes a distinction of one person or group from others, either intentionally or unintentionally, based on a protected class.
Breckenridge Public Schools prohibits discrimination in all Child Nutrition Programs based on the following federally protected classes:
● Race ● Color ● National origin ● Sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation) ● Age ● Disability ● Reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity
Policy
Breckenridge Public Schools ensures that:
● All individuals have equal access to program benefits ● No barriers exist that prevent participation ● All participants are treated with respect and dignity ● Program services are delivered in a fair and consistent manner ● Individuals are informed of their rights and responsibilities under USDA civil rights requirements
Retaliation against any individual who files a complaint or participates in a complaint process is strictly prohibited.
Complaint Procedure
Any person who believes they or someone they know has been discriminated against has the right to file a complaint within 180 days of the alleged incident.
